It’s set to be the final release under the Paolo Honey name, and fittingly, it recaps the essence of Paolo Santiago’s project. It’s full of the euphony we’ve come to know these past few years: folky pop and bossa nova serenades centered on glistening acoustic melodies and Santiago’s boyish, yet powerful, voice that professes his love using everything from aching whispers to shouting it from the rooftops.

This time, the songs are more stripped down to voice and guitar, with only light percussion and atmosphere, but retains Santiago’s signature backing vocal flourishes for dreamy effect. It’s a cozier and more focused experience, like sitting in front of an impromptu performance, which gives the singing more room to shine. It’s packed with affable charm that’s also bolstered by the guest singers that add to these lyrics that are heartfelt, playful, and vulnerable.

Robin Peppertree swoops in to steal the show for a moment in “Spanish Song” with his awkwardly fun and commanding delivery. A solo version was originally released in 2019, when Santiago challenged himself to write a love song in Spanish despite not being fluent. It’s one of the many times he has turned his shortcomings into swooning bliss over the years.

One of the most stunning moments is performed by a woman credited as “jelly” who brings a sultry R&B croon in “Easy to Fall”. Another singer simply credited as “Kim” has a breathy delicate performance, with great duet interplay as well. It makes you wish the entire album was full of duets, but Santiago’s competence gets the job done even when solo.

The guitarwork is impeccable, the songwriting is as captivating as ever, and the blissful moods make you feel the warmth of summer nights. It’s one last breezy moment at the beach with Paolo Honey, but it’s also the sweetest.

Score: 9/10
