We’re back with a roundup of RGV highlights from the past two months. There is campy horror, gamer-inspired dreamscapes, and lo-fi psychedelia that create the most abstract of headspaces. Enjoy!

I Killed Techno! - Revenge Of The Undead

Equal parts campy entertainment and artful dread, the new single from IKT builds anticipation for the upcoming album with its looming atmosphere and wounded shrieks.

FranKing - end of the day.

What could have been a chilled-out soundscape is interrupted by anxious syncopation, and thankfully turns FranKing’s debut single into a gripping lo-fi pop experience.

Evolve - Hustler S. Thompson

Evolve proves himself as one of the hardest working and consistent local rappers, and collaborative too, as his thematically driven new record has him dropping street-smart bombs over boom-bap beats that are cinematic, jazzy, and gritty.

Milagros - El Amor Es Amor

Songs that support pride are not just for June, as shown in the pastoral sound and video for Milagros’s single that features what is perhaps her best vocal performance.

Woozy indie pop and cynical garage rock from a new band that finds its strength in fuzzy vocals, lush guitars, and tastefully busy drums.

Pillowsnake - A BROWN RECLUSE'S EXCLUSIVE RETURN TRIP 2 SANITY, PAIN, AND PROMISE

Pillowsnake recruits collaborator Edwin Voyager who brings his critical abstract lyrics, and harsh voice but playful drawl. Its a swirling and creeping track with a stunning finish in a tripped-out fashion that could only come from these lo-fi madmen.

The Takeover (J-Sea & X-Pert) - Margarita

A boozy dembow-driven serenade by two R&B moodsters in their prime.

.JAVI - Waitless

Another hip hop-inflected R&B release. .JAVI’s silky voice and minimal beats flow and glow with ease.

Julio. - Train Wreck

A lot of youthful swag, heart, and distress run through these tracks of emo ballads, trap bangers, and indie crooners.

disease freak - lizard folkz

disease freak knows how to hit the sweet spot between stimulating and numbing, this time doing so in a thick smokey fog of mumbling vocals and post-punk strums and drums.

Ruben Farias - Getting Punched in the Face, Vol. IV

Usually an acoustic artist and performer, Ruben Farias brings a full band sound that emphasizes his pop-punk energy and character of a man who is rolling with the punches.

Italia - Here We Go!

Catchy gamer-inspired dreamscapes and soft untrained vocals (except when she calls out her haters with some bite!) evoking nostalgia and escapism that hits even harder than her last album.
