Here’s a brand new team-up between two RGV indie musicians with some of the oddest surreal discographies — Edwin Voyager and disease freak. It’s also a duo between effect and mood as they incoherently brood over warped strums and distorted edits.

DaRoach - Take It There (Ft. C-Styles)

The debut single from DaRoach is a collaboration with his father — the Chicago/RGV rap veteran C-Styles. With DaRoach’s deep tones challenging anyone who wants to “take it there,” and C-Styles bringing confidence with his fluid flows, the song is a strong statement for a newcomer with high hopes.

WeirdKid - The Last Flower

Continuing her last music video’s theme of being the lone survivor on earth, WeirdKid creates scenes of unconventional choreography on a remote bridge. The character celebrates and takes off her gas mask to smell the last flower, despite the fatally toxic air.

Frank Stepps - 10

The solo debut single from Jetwad’s Frank Stepps mantains a lot of the garage rock energy and noisy informalities from his band, and adds his own angle of sentimentality.

PLAY - Trends / FLY (FEAT. ROXCH)

For a guy named “PLAY” he sure keeps working, and this time he drops another double single release (and a music video below.) In Trends, his soft voice cruises over dancey synth stabs. In FLY, a translucent soundscape fills the air while PLAY sings about a woman whose hustle can match his own. “She go to work. She go to school. She got an OnlyFan, yea she makin’ moves.”

Italia - Hennessy Girl

Another Italia and PLAY video collab, with aerial shots of lonely Brownsville streets and minimal choreography set to soft emo vocals and a relaxed cloud rap beat.

Matt M - River of Dreams (Ft. TAO)

A posse cut with some of the most recognizable RGV rappers. As a song that’s mostly about their authenticity, it’s great that there’s no filler between the bars, and Roll$’s strong voice and change of pace make his verse a standout.

Speck & Grim - Str88

An ambient backdrop is standard for Speck & Grim’s hip-hop aesthetic, but in their new single, they turn up the amount of intimidation in the delivery and flow.

Robbie More - En La Cama Contigo (Ft. Carmen Castillo)

This new single from Robbie More’s upcoming album is a glamorously exuberant pop song with production by Rudy Cerda and Carmen Castillo’s vocals complementing the vibe with a rougher edge.
