Despite the two year absence, The McAllenite continued to listen and support RGV music. Here are some highlights from the past year, featuring a dream-pop surprise, a spirited tribute to Harajuku, and some jarring experimental music. It’s good to be back and we’re ready for 2025.

Lunar Heart - Starry Eyed

Lunar Heart 2.0 hits their stride with a surprise dream-pop debut. A lazy hazy bliss drenched in as much reverb as mood, while packing a full-band punch.

Twin Tribes - Pendulum

Between the cinematic opening and the ghostly sendoff is the gothic romanticism and tasteful dark-wave hooks that have made Twin Tribes a leading presence in their dark niche, and despite the 4+ year wait for this new album, their impact is unwavering.

Orpheus Bloom - musings.

The latest pop album by Orpheus Bloom’s Paolo Santiago fires on all cylinders: dancey highlights, spacey themes, and of course, soulful musings all boosted by Santiago’s vocal prowess.

Italia is Kawaii - I Love Harajuku

Get lost in the spirited beat, easy-breezy rhymes, and dreamy wanderlust of Italia’s ode to Harajuku.

Pillowsnake - LURKUZ EP

An unparalleled one-two punch of troubled lyrics and psychedelic punk rock being put through the wringer.

J-Sea - Look How Far We’ve Come

J-Sea has indeed come a long way in refining his signature sound: slick dark beats, dense r&b vocals, and a persona that is sometimes tender, sometimes confrontational, but always competent just like his latest album.

BRUXIST - the state and my wellbeing

Industrial and IDM trances that are disturbingly blunt and violently catchy. The best highlights are when scenic, dancey, and sentimental moments morph into sonic monsters. An oddly profound experience.

B11ce - Top 5 Gas Leaks EP

Blow out your speakers and your mind with this kinetic glitchy surrealist blend of breakcore, techno, and reggaeton.
