The latest song in a string of singles by Upon Your Dead Body’s Efrain Benavides is emo-pop indulgence at it’s finest: Strangulated boyish singing, awkwardly catchy guitar melody, and an apologetic dialogue section. Behind the sing-along worthy harmonies is a song about dealing with a destructive lover who is spiraling out of control.

“I was supposed to be that light at the end of the tunnel for this evil person and I feel like I failed them,” explained Benavides on the inspiration behind the song. “They don’t try to better themselves and use you like a drug for happiness.” The song works great as a romanticized pity party on the first listen, and a sobering realization on the next. It’s his best single yet, creating high hopes for his next full length release.
