Opian is the new electronic music project by Eddie Cantu. After his last project, Invisible Sleeping Man, conceptually ran its course two years ago, Cantu is back to experiment with new timbre and focus in his brand of progressive and cerebral electronic compositions.

The debut single, “Opalescent Sands,” gets revved up by war-time drums and distant rumbling before adventurous synths and musing strings drive the song into a pulsing finish, giving the sense of a sci-fi journey. It’s as playful as it is intense, and as elegant as it is thunderous. Cantu’s ear for layering and scene-setting is as sharp as ever, turning our current state of isolation into explosive creativity. The EP “The Quarantine Files” will be released tomorrow, when we will hear Opian’s musical ideas fully crystalized.
